The article by Garrison Kellior about texting was interesting. I believe that young people are losing their people skills and it makes it hard when you're like me and dont have a phone, especially in a school like arapahoe where kids are very privileged compared to what im used to. people expect you to text them or get ahold of them with a phone. When i get my phone i will be paying for it so it'll be a very treasured thing. I digress, the social skills of people in general have gotten worse i feel as if confrontation has become a taboo subject for alot of people. it gets annoying knowing that people are constantly talking behind people's backs over their phones. This relates to the world because young people all over are becoming less sociable. this relates to education because kids eventually will need to learn how to interact with other people face to face. This relates to me, because not having a phone, i don't constantly text people and when people constantly have their heads in a phone it bothers me.

boys are falling behind in school because the educational system is too advanced they make us learn too fast. I find it hard to learn the way we're taught here at school. things aren't explained we kinda have to guess on how to do things. i feel like they need to figure out how to teach us in a better way so that we don't feel discouraged. I feel discouraged on a daily basis because i feel like i try in school, yet i make bad grades. This relates to the world because it's effecting our educational system. this relates to me because it's effecting me.

Recently a school in Mississippi canceled their prom because a girl wanted to bring her girl friend and also wear a tuxedo. This shows the intolerance still plaguing our country. the fact that they had to cancel an entire prom because of her sexual stance and choice of attire i believe is quite ridiculous.

This relates to education, because schools shouldn't be discrimitory against people's sexual stance. This relates to the world because discrimination is still plaguing our communities and world. This relates to me because some of my old friends and some of my family is gay, and it really pisses me off when people can't see just another person. Too many people see color or that somebody is different.

I read about Iranian homosexuals seeking refuge in turkey. Turkey doesn't require Iranians to carry a visa in Turkey. Since being gay is punishable by death in Iran many gays flee through Turkey. There is one house in Turkey where some homosexuals stay and leave as they need. Even in Turkey where the people are escaping extremist persecution people still knock out the windows of the house where they live. This relates to me because many friends of mine are gay. This relates to education because, when more countries develop and more people are educated tollerance will come with that. this relates to the world because it happens every day in many places.

For pln 17 i watched a video one of my friends who is a music promoter and producer made. The video is called Choose Your Chemicals by _-=O=-_ (or Darren Lyman). The video is about chemicals in food and how they effect industry. For example organic refers to having carbon products in it, this means any form of carbon has to make up at least 80% of the food. This can effect our diet negatively just like many other foods can effect our diet negatively.

For my free choice I looked up the most common subjects argued about. The most common subject is religion. People argue about religion more than other subjects, also the subject of divinity has been fought over and argued about for many years. Another subject that is commonly argued about today is gay marriage. The argument of rights for the gay community has been argued about between religious groups, political groups, and activist groups alike. The other most commonly argued about subject is abortion. People today argue about the legality, and morality of abotion all the time. Again these arguments are commonly argued about between religious, political, and activist groups. these arguements relate to me because i have encountered people who belive differently than me on these subjects. its important to know what you're talking about and what you belive

i read an article about the westboro baptist church which is not a church but a hate group. They are visiting Denver schools, including pamona and stanley lake high schools, which are very close to my house. I live about ten blocks from pamona and about twenty from stanley lake. I have talked to one of my good friends who goes there, and students may riot. The westboro church have no idea who or what they're messing with. The students of pamona and stanley lake won't put up with these moronic behaviors. I know plenty of people from both schools who have said that they are not above rioting or fighting these people because of they're hate for people like me and my friends especially.

Recently at Arapahoe high school a student by the name of Josh Jensen decided to stand on a table at lunch and sing a Taylor Swift song. After only being able to get through the first verse he was told to get down after not doing that he was told to get down again, he did. The vice principle then took Josh into the office and told him he thought Josh was on drugs and reprimanded him, saying that standing on tables was bad, and that he should not do that. He then started asking about Josh's family life, which is a touchy subject for him. Out of my personal experiences i believe students reserve the right to express themselves. If that means standing on tables and singing country songs than so be it. This relates to education because if we can't have fun with what we're good at than what good is education. This relates to me because it happened to me, and i don't believe that a principle needs to know about my family life it's none of his business. This relates to the world because if the world had more people that weren't afraid of authority i believe the world would be better because authority is based on fear and if we don't have that fear than we can make the world how it should be.

I read an article about something called Lazarus syndrome. Lazarus syndrome is where some one is pronounced dead and spontaneously comes back to life. One man died of cardiac arrest, a half hour later his heart started beating again. He lived for two more days. Another woman in Colombia was pronounced dead she was then moved from a hospital to a mortuary where as the were about to apply formaldahyde she started breathing and moving her arm. I thought this phenomenon was interesting because it is so rare. This doesn't apply to me very much but it does apply to education. Doctors have to know that this is possible and they may encounter it. Therefore the have to be educated in knowing how to deal with this and possibly save someone.

The article i read was about the web radio Pandora. The article said that over the past year Pandora has been doing increasingly well. The audience listening to Pandora has increased dramatically over the past year probably due to the heightened sales of IPhones The Pandora app for Ihones was, according to the founder of Pandora, the biggest contributor to the success of the website. Pandora was originally supposed to help musicians find an audience, and to help struggling musicians "link" through the Internet. This article applies to me because I am a musician and finding an audience for your music is a hard thing to establish, you can't always do it on your own, so its important for us to have tools to establish ourselves as artists. It applies to education because the music industry is changing rapidly and some one who is studying that career field needs to be educated on the different things happening within the industry. It applies to the world because websites like this can be accessed world wide, and they link the world's music industry instead of just one countries music industry.

I read an article about the effect some media people are having on the countries level of paranoia. It says people like Glen Beck are instilling fear into america causing a rising level in radical right wing-ist views and a rise in white surpremist groups and militia groups. I think personally that this kind of article alone is the kind of thing that is instilling fear into the american people. One people start being extreme left wing-ist as well things will be blown out of proportion and that will be the eventual downfall of our democracy.

My article was an article about the earthquake in Chile. The earthquake was 8.8 magnitude on the Richter scale. This earth quake was the biggest one since the 9.0 magnitude earthquake in Chile in 1960. The earthquake devastated much of the coastal country leaving hundreds on the streets. Chile however, was much more prepared and experienced for earthquakes compared to Haiti saving many lives.

This relates to the world because much of the developed world helps devastated countries when disasters happen. This relates to me because it is a current event and people talk about it a lot. This relates to education because it affects the education in Chile children's schools have been destroyed and there is nowhere to go to school. This is a devastating event.

I read an article about the ipad. The ipad is a new device created by apple, it is like a laptop and an iphone combined to make a touch screen tablet that is for media playing and other things as well. This is in my opinion an awsome device for education i have a friend that is getting one for note taking in class. This applies to me because two of my friends are getting them and i will be able to use them sometimes. This applies to the world because the device will be available to all of the developed countries in the world.

The article I read was about the celebrity Kim Kardashian who "tweeted" that she was sitting next to an air marshal on an airplane. How she found out she said she just asked him and he said yes that he was. She then "tweeted" that" Jim guy she was sitting next to was an air marshal. This incedent makes me wonder about our country's security on airplanes. Considering there was an attempted terrorist attack on a plane recently I believe the security should be much better than it is. This relates to me because I want to know I'm safe on an air plane and the air marshal is still anonymous and not telling everyone and their sister what his cover is. This this doesn't apply to education as much but it does apply to the world because terrorists are still out there trying to infiltrate America and attack us, because of this we need good security in airports and on the planes themselves.

The K-State article really interested me more than all the other articles I've been reading for pln's. I thought it was cool how the students rallied together to make a difference in someone's life. Being someone who will have to work through my college, (or I'm considering joining the military to get on the G.I. Bill) I relate to not having the money for alot. It's really cool that these students pooled their money to help other students that are having a hard time paying for school and the expenses that come with it. This relates to education because the video was an assignment, and it shows that school assignments can be meaningful to students. This relates to the world because can you imagine what the world would be like if people did random acts of kindness for others like this on a regular basis? The world would be a much better place.

For my article I read about protesters who were charged with being 'enemies of God'. The article says that it is unclear what the men's crime was. The Iranian government is resorting to Shiite Law to envoke fear among Iranian people. The article also says that about 80% of the Iranian people detest and denounce the corrupt government. In Iran there is no freedom of speech this is important to me, education, and the world because freedom of speech is a crucial part of humanity. Everyone should have the right to have their voices heard.

I read an article about a suicide bombing done on a United States base in Afghanistan. The bomber apperantly snuck into the base dressed in an Afghan border police uniform. There were 5 American men who were killed. After reading the article I read some of the comments on the article. The comments had many typos and some of them were quite ignorant. One person commented,"for every suicide bombing victim, kill 5 imams. once we run out of people preaching hate, the problem will pretty much stop." I assume "imams" means Islams. I think that this article relates to me because people with this much hate for other people groups exist and we have to learn how to live with them. It relates to education because some people still can't spell very well. It relates to the world because this is a current event, and happened recently.

research article

My research article is about resource wars in Congo. These wars started when the Belgians colonised Congo and raided it of its rubber trees. Later on genocide was being commited because one tribe wanted all the resources which include diamonds, zinc, cobalt, copper, gold, timber, and coffee. Since it is so rich in valuable resources other countries were getting involved with the conflict such as U.S. private industries and Uganda. with private industries fueling these wars it shows how the U.S. is involved.

change the world research

In my research for my change the world paper i have learned that resource wars have been taking place for thousands of years. Resources, along with religious beliefs, are one of the most prevelant causes of war. In most cases its for oil fields or water, since those are two of the most important resources in the world today. In the past it has been for water sources, pastures for feeding animals, and for precious minerals such as diamonds and gold. This relates to me because the U.S. is starting to have its own problems with not having enough resources to sustain our lifestyle. we need to conserve more in order to keep violence down and sustain a lifestyle

laptops in school

Laptops in school aren't a waste of time or money, on our laptops we can share project ideas, and research information. We can also read and write on them, they're very helpful for school. For those of us who have bad handwriting it helps us to write without being counted off points because the teacher couldn't read our paper.

writing in circles.

Smetimes being given the freedom to write about whatever you want is the hardest assignment to write about. In the case that one cannot think of what to write sometimes the best thing is to write about the difficulty of finding a subject to write about. Which is what i am doing right now. Isn't it interesting how when writing about not being able to find a subject to write about we tend to run in circles with our writing. Not really going anywhere, strangely staying in the same place. in the time it took you to read this you could've made a bagel, or done something else to pass the time, but instead you have now read a blog that seems to run around in circles, never going anywhere but strangely moving at the same time. Now as this paragraph finishes you find yourself wondering was this a waste of time or a profound thought provoking experience. Did i actually learn something today or could i have never avoided confusion by reading this. All these questions will never be answered by me but by you.

how is the internet is changing the way you think

How is the internet changing the way you think?
The internet is changing my thinking, in that I don’t ever think to go to the library to research things. I simply turn on my computer and go to the internet for my research. The internet is also changing thinking in the way that people communicate almost constantly through the internet. With websites like Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter so called “mainstreamists” use technology to communicate and share information. These reasons are how the internet is changing the way people think.
